ISLAMABAD: President of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, has arrived in Islamabad for a three-day visit, marking a significant step in the evolving relationship between Belarus and Pakistan. His visit, which comes at the invitation of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, underscores the mutual commitment of the two nations to deepen bilateral ties across multiple sectors. Prime Minister Sharif personally welcomed President Lukashenko at Nur Khan Airbase, reflecting the importance Pakistan attaches to this visit.
President Lukashenko’s arrival was accompanied by an elaborate reception, with senior Pakistani officials present to greet the distinguished guest. Among those welcoming him were Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, Information Minister Attaullah Tarar, and other key figures in the government. This high-level engagement sets the tone for the diplomatic and economic discussions scheduled during the visit. The Belarusian delegation, which arrived earlier, is led by the Belarusian Foreign Minister and comprises 68 high-ranking officials, cabinet members, business leaders, and investors.

During his stay, President Lukashenko is scheduled to hold high-level meetings with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and other key Pakistani officials. Both countries are anticipated to explore opportunities for investment and partnerships in sectors of mutual interest, laying the groundwork for long-term cooperation.
A key highlight of the visit will be the signing of several agreements and memoranda of understanding (MoUs). These documents are likely to encompass areas such as economic collaboration, scientific research, cultural exchange, and infrastructure development. The agreements will symbolize a new phase in Pakistan-Belarus relations, fostering deeper ties and opening avenues for joint ventures and knowledge sharing. This visit also carries significant geopolitical implications, as it demonstrates Pakistan’s efforts to diversify its international partnerships.
