ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has dispatched its tenth shipment of humanitarian aid to Gaza, further demonstrating its commitment to supporting the Palestinian people in the face of ongoing Israeli aggression. Facilitated by the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) and in collaboration with the Al-Khidmat Foundation, this latest shipment comprised 40 tons of medical supplies essential for the beleaguered residents of Gaza.
According to a press release issued by the Press Information Department of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the aid was flown out from Jinnah International Airport in Karachi via a chartered A300 aircraft. The supplies will first arrive in Jordan before being transported to Gaza, providing much-needed relief in an area crippled by conflict and resource shortages. This effort marks Pakistan’s continued solidarity with Palestine, with the NDMA having so far delivered 1,151 tons of aid to the region. At the shipment ceremony, MNA Dr. Darshan, along with representatives from NDMA and Al-Khidmat Foundation, underscored the critical need for global humanitarian assistance, especially in these dire times for Gaza’s population.
The conflict in Gaza has escalated in recent days, with Israeli military operations intensifying in both Gaza and Lebanon. Israeli airstrikes have led to significant casualties, with at least 11 Palestinians killed in Gaza just yesterday, according to health officials. The strikes have targeted northern, central, and southern areas of the Strip, including a school in Beit Lahiya sheltering displaced civilians, which resulted in the death of four people. Israeli forces claim that the airstrikes are focused on Hamas, with military officials stating that they struck a command centre operated by Hamas fighters. Additional strikes were reported in Gaza City, Nuseirat, and Khan Younis, leading to further fatalities and destruction.
Meanwhile, Israel has escalated its military offensive against Hezbollah in Lebanon, resulting in the assassination of the group’s leader, Hassan Nasrallah. In retaliation, Hezbollah has vowed continued resistance against Israel, adding a volatile dimension to an already catastrophic situation in the region. The humanitarian crisis in Gaza continues to worsen, with most of its 2.3 million residents displaced by the ongoing war. According to Gaza health authorities, the conflict has claimed the lives of 41,500 Palestinians, raising urgent questions about the future of the region and the efficacy of international interventions.
