ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has strongly condemned the attack on Rangers and police personnel by protesters using their vehicles. Expressing deep sorrow and grief, he mourned the martyrdom of the Rangers personnel who were run over during the attack, offering prayers for their souls and patience for their families.
In a statement, the Prime Minister directed that those responsible for the assault be identified and swiftly brought to justice. He also instructed the provision of the best medical care for the injured Rangers and police officers. He denounced the attacks on law enforcement agencies carried out under the guise of a so-called peaceful protest. He described the group behind the violence as deliberately targeting security forces, stressing that police and Rangers are deployed to maintain peace and order.
“Such actions devastate the families of the security forces,” he added. Sharif went on to say that the disruptive group was not pursuing a revolution, but bloodshed, emphasizing that their actions were far from peaceful protest and instead represented extremism. Concluding his statement, the Prime Minister asserted that Pakistan cannot afford any form of violence or bloodshed. He condemned the shedding of blood for political gain as utterly unacceptable and reprehensible. He, along with the entire nation, paid tribute to the martyrs from the Rangers and police.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Chief of Army Staff General Asim Munir attended the funeral prayers for the three Rangers officials who were martyred during the ongoing PTI protests. The funeral took place at Chaklala Garrison and was attended by senior political and military figures, including Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, Minister for Information Attaullah Tarar, and Chief of Army Staff General Syed Asim Munir.
Speaking at the funeral, Prime Minister Sharif condemned the violence during the protests, stating, “Pakistan cannot afford any chaos and bloodshed for achieving vested political purposes. These acts of violence are unacceptable and highly condemnable, pushing the limits of restraint by law enforcement agencies. The entire nation pays homage to the martyred Rangers soldiers, police officers, and those injured during these riots.” The martyred officers were identified as Naik Muhammad Ramzan Shaheed (47 years old, from Karak), Sepoy Gulfam Khan Shaheed (29 years old, from Rawalpindi), and Sepoy Shah Nawaz Shaheed (33 years old, from Sibi).
