ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif called for strengthened cooperation between the federal government and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) authorities to promote development, prosperity, and law and order in the province.
The Prime Minister made the remarks during a meeting with KP Chief Minister Sohail Afridi in Islamabad on Monday, highlighting the importance of coordination in addressing security challenges and advancing public welfare. He urged the provincial government to accelerate efforts for peace and stability, stressing that institutions responsible for counter-terrorism should be strengthened to effectively tackle threats.
“Our joint efforts will continue until terrorism is completely eliminated from the province,” PM Shehbaz said, underscoring the federal government’s commitment to supporting KP’s security apparatus. He emphasized that maintaining law and order is a constitutional responsibility of the provincial government, alongside ensuring the welfare of its citizens.
Shehbaz Sharif pointed out that KP authorities have the mandate to take proactive measures in areas such as health and education, and that these efforts must be pursued to improve the quality of life for residents. He assured that the federal government would continue to provide support for development projects, infrastructure improvement, education, health, and job creation, all within the framework of the constitution.
The Prime Minister reiterated that KP is a vital part of the federation, and the federal government remains committed to inclusive development, emphasizing the need for close coordination and effective communication between provincial and federal authorities. He concluded that mutual consultation and collaboration across all provinces are essential for national unity, stability, and prosperity.
