ISLAMABAD: Federal ministers Attaullah Tarar and Engineer Amir Maqam have accused Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) of misusing resources and employing unethical tactics for their recent rally in Islamabad. At a press conference, the ministers claimed that attendees were coerced into participating and criticized the rally’s overall impact and organization.
Engineer Amir Maqam alleged that public resources were improperly utilized for the rally, questioning the opposition’s focus on threats rather than constructive solutions. He also accused PTI leaders of internal conflicts over corruption, which he argued has led to a disconnect with the public. Maqam condemned the disrespectful remarks directed at Maryam Nawaz during the event, calling it a violation of national traditions.
Information Minister Attaullah Tarar echoed these criticisms, asserting that the rally had breached Pashtun traditions of respect for women and failed to address critical national issues such as terrorism. He highlighted PTI’s governance shortcomings in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, criticizing the party’s inability to initiate significant projects during their tenure.
Both ministers dismissed the rally as a failure, urging PTI to focus on serving the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa instead. Tarar specifically criticized the PTI rally, noting that normal traffic patterns in Islamabad and Punjab suggested a lack of the anticipated large turnout. He accused PTI of using misleading videos and fabricated tweets to exaggerate the rally’s success, alleging that the party engaged in spreading false information and propaganda on social media.
