SUKKUR: The Special Court FIA Sukkur on Thursday sent back the NAB reference case against PPP leader Syed Khursheed Ahmed Shah to the Accountability Court.
The Sukkur Special Court (Central) FIA issued a significant verdict in the “assets beyond means” case against Syed Khursheed Ahmed Shah and others, dismissing the NAB reference and directing that the case proceed in the Accountability Court for further action.
Reports said that during Thursday’s hearing, presided over by Judge Abdul Rasheed Shah of the Special Court (Central FIA Sukkur), the NAB Special Prosecutor stated that according to a new NAB report, the case’s value had been revised from Rs 1.22 billion to Rs 193 million. He requested that the case be transferred to NAB Court, citing amendments to the NAB law, which exclude cases valued under Rs 500 million from the jurisdiction of the Accountability Court. Consequently, the case had been referred to the Anti-Corruption Court.
However, the court observed that NAB failed to provide any concrete documentary evidence supporting the reduction in the assets’ declared value, and the FIA representative could not present any material when questioned.
The court declared the NAB reference ineffective and ordered it to be sent back to the Accountability Court, noting that under the current circumstances, the Special Court could not take further action.
The court has directed all the accused—including Syed Khursheed Ahmed Shah, Provincial Minister Owais Qadir Shah, Farukh Shah, and 15 others, including two wives of Khursheed Shah—to appear before the Accountability Court, Sukkur, on February 3, 2026.
