PESHAWAR/SWAT: Police have registered a formal First Information Report (FIR) against Member of the National Assembly, Dr. Amjad Ali, at Koo Karai Police Station over a controversial speech that has sparked widespread criticism.

According to officials, the FIR accuses Dr. Amjad Ali of using provocative and inflammatory language against state institutions, describing the speech as highly contentious and contrary to the interests of the state. Authorities said the remarks were seen as a potential threat to public order, capable of inciting unrest and spreading fear in the area.

The FIR notes that the statements violate the Constitution of Pakistan, 1973, and could disrupt law and order by inflaming public sentiment against state institutions. Legal proceedings have been initiated under various sections of the Pakistan Penal Code, and a comprehensive investigation is underway. Police sources stated that the case is being examined from all angles, and further action will follow in accordance with the evidence.

Officials emphasised that the law applies equally to all, and no individual will be allowed to incite hatred against state institutions or contravene constitutional provisions. The controversial speech had attracted severe criticism on social media and in public forums, prompting the authorities to take formal legal action.
