ORENBURG: A catastrophic fire at an oil pipeline in Russia’s Orenburg region has resulted in the deaths of two individuals, according to a report from TASS state news agency on Tuesday. The regional prosecutor’s office has initiated an investigation to ascertain the cause of the blaze, but specific details about the incident remain scarce. The fire was first reported through unverified channels on Russian Telegram on Monday, but TASS confirmed the event later.
In a related incident, a Ukrainian drone strike targeted a petrol depot in Russia’s Tambov region on June 28. The attack, which occurred at 4:35 am (0135 GMT), ignited a minor fire that was promptly extinguished without any reported casualties. Russia’s defense ministry revealed that it intercepted 25 Ukrainian drones overnight, although it did not confirm whether any were related to the Tambov region attack.
Additionally, in the western Bryansk region, governor Alexander Bogomov reported that a drone had been downed, with debris partially damaging the roof of an administrative building. The series of incidents underscores the ongoing tensions and conflict involving drone attacks and their impact on infrastructure across the region.
