MUSCAT: A fire broke out at an oil storage facility at Port of Salalah after a reported attack allegedly linked to Iran, authorities and media reports said.
Tehran denied involvement in the strike on oil installations in Oman, calling the incident a conspiracy aimed at escalating regional tensions. Iranian officials said that at times the United States and Israel carry out provocative actions to inflame the situation.
The incident follows attacks on three commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz and the Gulf of Oman earlier this week. The targeted ships were sailing under the flags of Thailand, Japan, and the Marshall Islands.
Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps earlier claimed responsibility for an attack on the Thai-flagged vessel.
