DERA BUGTI: Security forces in Balochistan killed five terrorists in an intelligence-led operation in the Dera Bugti district on Saturday, the military confirmed. According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the individuals were linked to a faction identified as “Fitna-e-Khawarij Hindustan”, a group accused of orchestrating attacks with external support and threatening regional stability.
The operation, described by officials as “meticulously planned and executed”, targeted terrorist hideouts across the district. Troops reportedly acted with precision, neutralizing the threat while recovering a significant cache of weapons, ammunition, and explosive material. The ISPR highlighted that the raid demonstrated the security forces’ capacity to respond effectively to organized terrorist networks, especially those operating with foreign backing.
Residents in the area said the presence of security forces had increased significantly over the past few weeks, reflecting ongoing efforts to dismantle insurgent infrastructure and prevent cross-border infiltration. “We saw helicopters and convoys moving into the hills for several days,” one local told reporters. “It seemed they had precise information about where these terrorists were hiding.”
Military officials framed the operation as part of a broader strategy to eliminate armed groups that exploit lawless terrain and foreign support to destabilize the region. While the authorities did not report any casualties among security personnel, they stressed that the raid would send a clear message to terrorists that Balochistan would not be a safe haven for armed factions.
The action in Dera Bugti comes amid heightened security concerns across Pakistan, with authorities repeatedly warning that terrorist groups with foreign affiliations are a persistent threat to national security.
