PESHAWAR: The director general of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Food Safety and Halal Food Authority, Kashif Iqbal Jilani, visited the Haripur Food Safety Office and directed food safety teams to take indiscriminate action against the adulteration mafia and the sale of substandard and hazardous food items.
During the visit, Jilani held a detailed meeting with district administrative officers and reviewed matters related to food safety enforcement. Director Technical Dr Abdul Sattar Shah and Director Finance Zahir Mehmood were also present.
The director general issued clear instructions, stressing that no negligence or leniency would be tolerated in actions against food adulteration. He said strict enforcement of food safety laws was essential to protect public health.
Later, accompanied by the Haripur Food Safety team, Jilani visited the Hattar Industrial Estate, where he carried out detailed inspections of various production units operating in the industrial zone. All stages of production, from raw materials to finished products, were examined.
He expressed satisfaction over the cleanliness arrangements and quality standards maintained at the factories and appreciated the efforts of factory owners. He also directed them to ensure strict compliance with food safety laws and standard operating procedures.
Speaking on the occasion, Jilani said the provision of safe and quality food to citizens remained the top priority of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Food Safety and Halal Food Authority, adding that effective field monitoring and enforcement would continue across the province.
