LAHORE: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is poised for a major leadership shake-up, with Chief Operating Officer (COO) Salman Naseer anticipated to be reassigned in the near future. According to sources, there are plans to transition Naseer to a role within the Pakistan Super League (PSL), possibly as Managing Director or Head of PSL.
In a significant move, former Deputy Commissioner of Lahore, Sumair Ahmed Syed, is expected to be appointed as the new COO of the PCB on deputation from the Prime Minister’s House. This appointment is expected to take place soon, with Syed set to work under both the PCB Chairman and Salman Naseer, who will report directly to him.
Additionally, further restructuring is anticipated within the PSL, with International Director Usman Wahla likely to be appointed as PSL Director. This potential appointment has sparked concerns among PSL franchises, with mixed reactions reported. While franchises appear to support Naseer’s move to the PSL, there is skepticism regarding Wahla’s promotion, highlighting ongoing debates about the management direction of the league.
These changes come at a pivotal time for the PCB, which continues to navigate challenges in cricket administration and league operations in Pakistan.
