PANJGUR: Security forces in Balochistan successfully neutralized four militants during an operation in the Panjgur district on Sunday, as authorities intensified efforts to curb extremist activity in the province.
The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said the operation followed actionable intelligence pointing to the presence of militants in the area, with the targeted location described as a hideout belonging to “khawarij,” a term used by the military for outlawed extremist elements.
According to the ISPR statement, the hideout was struck decisively, resulting in the deaths of four militants. Authorities recovered weapons, ammunition, and explosive material from the site. The military asserted that the militants were linked to multiple acts of terrorism in the region, though specifics of those attacks were not disclosed.
No casualties were reported among security personnel involved in the operation. Officials said the Panjgur operation forms part of a broader security campaign across Balochistan, where counterterrorism efforts have been stepped up in response to ongoing threats against civilians and state institutions.
Authorities emphasized that such measures are critical to restoring stability in a province that has long faced insurgency and extremist activity. The ISPR highlighted that these operations are conducted in close coordination with local law enforcement and intelligence agencies, reflecting a sustained commitment to neutralizing militant networks before they can carry out further attacks.
Analysts noted that while security gains have been made, the complex terrain and presence of multiple armed groups continue to pose challenges for long-term stability in the region.
