KARACHI: A man who filed a multimillion-rupee fraud case has appealed to the courts and police for protection, saying he and prosecution witnesses face serious threats from the accused and his associates.

The complainant, Ghulsher Unar, submitted applications to the Civil Judge and Judicial Magistrate 13 West, the SSP City, SSP Keamari, the SHO City Court and other authorities in connection with FIR No. 158/25 registered at Mochko police station under sections including fraud, cheating and 420.

In his application, Unar said that during the last court hearing, the sons of the accused, Nawab Sheikh son of Siddique Sheikh, along with several “suspicious associates”, threatened and intimidated him inside the court premises. He added that Nawab Sheikh had previously issued repeated life threats to him and to prosecution witnesses.

Unar requested the authorities to recover any illegal weapons allegedly carried by the accused’s sons and to seize licensed weapons, if any. He also demanded a thorough verification of the criminal records of the accused, his sons and dozens of associates who were present in court during the previous hearing.

Expressing grave concern over his safety, the complainant said he feared physical harm at the next hearing and urged the authorities to ensure adequate security for himself and the witnesses.
