Pakistan has been facing a renewed wave of terrorism in recent times, compelling security forces to intensify nationwide operations. On Saturday, security personnel foiled a major terrorist attack on the Frontier Corps (FC) headquarters in Mohmand, where four suicide bombers were killed during the operation. According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), in the early hours of September 6, the terrorists attempted to infiltrate the FC headquarters in Mohmand, but the vigilant security personnel swiftly neutralized the threat before the attackers could breach the camp. The ISPR spokesperson revealed that a sanitization operation is underway in the area to eliminate any remaining threats. Pakistan’s security forces, driven by an unwavering commitment to rid the country of terrorism, continue to act with bravery and determination. In another successful operation, security forces in the district of Kalat, Balochistan, killed two terrorists based on intelligence reports.
The ISPR statement said the operation was carried out on the night of September 6-7, recovering weapons, ammunition, and explosives from the terrorists. These individuals had been involved in major terror activities targeting both security forces and innocent civilians in the region. The operation is part of an ongoing effort to cleanse the area of any remaining terrorist elements. The military’s resolve to protect Balochistan’s peace, stability, and development remains strong, bolstered by the nation’s support. President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif praised the security forces for thwarting the attack on the FC headquarters in Mohmand. The Prime Minister, in a statement, commended the courage and professionalism of the soldiers in eliminating the four suicide bombers. He reaffirmed that the war against terrorism will continue until this menace is fully eradicated from the country.
“Our brave officers and soldiers are steadfast in cleansing Pakistan’s soil of terrorists, and the entire nation stands united with the armed forces in this fight,” the statement read. In Punjab, intelligence-based operations led to the arrest of 33 terrorists across various cities. The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) spokesperson stated that 475 operations were conducted across Lahore, Gujranwala, Mianwali, Bahawalpur, Nankana, Hafizabad, Rahim Yar Khan, and Bhakkar, among others. During these operations, a dangerous terrorist from a banned organization was captured in Lahore. The arrested terrorists were identified as Khubaib Ahmed, Saifullah, Zaheer Ahmed, Ahmed, Hafiz Matloob, Hamza Javed, and others. Weapons, explosive vests, hand grenades, detonators, safety fuse wires, ammunition, mobile phones, and cash were recovered from the suspects.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister of Balochistan, Sardar Sarfaraz Bugti, reiterated the government’s determination to eliminate terrorists. Speaking at an event with central Pakistan People’s Party leader Syed Nayyar Hussain Bokhari and other provincial ministers, Bugti emphasized the focus on governance improvements, law and order, and combating climate change. He affirmed that the Balochistan government, in collaboration with allied political parties, is addressing these challenges. “The instability in Balochistan is fueled by anti-state elements, but we are resolute in bringing these terrorists to their rightful end and upholding the state’s authority,” Bugti declared. Anti-state actors are using insurgent groups across Pakistan to destabilize the nation, with groups like the banned Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) aiding them. These terrorist activities have not only caused loss of life and economic damage but also harmed Pakistan’s global image as a safe destination for investors.
Despite the security forces’ continuous efforts to counter terrorism, public support is essential for the success of these operations. The nation must set aside its differences and fully support the brave armed forces in eradicating this evil, ensuring that Pakistan’s path to stability and development is secured. In the face of these challenges, Pakistan’s security forces stand firm in their commitment to protect the nation, backed by the determination of its people. It is vital that all political factions, civil society, and citizens unite to confront this existential threat and pave the way for peace and prosperity.
