WASHINGTON: Leaders of the Group of Seven (G7) have urged U.S. President Donald Trump to immediately end the ongoing conflict with Iran and ensure the safety of shipping through the Strait of Hormuz.
According to U.S. media reports, Trump told a meeting of G7 leaders that Iran was close to surrendering. He claimed that no senior Iranian official remained who could formally announce the country’s surrender.
Trump also said the situation in the Strait of Hormuz was improving and suggested that commercial vessels should resume operations. He added that the conflict needed to be concluded decisively to prevent another war with Iran in the coming years.
