ISLAMABAD: Acting President and Senate Chairman Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani has stated that Pakistan is actively taking measures to tackle climate change, emphasizing the need for unwavering commitment to achieve sustainable development goals.
In a recent statement, Gilani highlighted the significant challenge posed by climate change, noting that it is obstructing sustainable development. He stated, “Today, we face a major challenge of climate change that requires our urgent attention,” calling for collective efforts to confront this global issue. The implications of climate change have far-reaching effects, impacting not only environmental stability but also economic growth and social equity. Gilani underscored the urgency for coordinated action at both national and international levels to combat these pressing challenges.
He asserted that Pakistan has aligned its sustainable development goals with the national development agenda, remarking that the country’s parliament is the first to transition towards environmentally friendly energy sources. Gilani stressed that achieving these goals necessitates robust policies and practices that incorporate innovative technologies, such as artificial intelligence, into various sectors, including governance and agriculture.
