WANA: Female students from Girls’ High School and College in Wana staged a protest on Tuesday at the Egloo Gate in South Waziristan, demonstrating against the absence of transport facilities provided to them.
The students said that denying transport services to all girls studying at the Wana FC Camp amounted to injustice, and that repeated demands from the City Brigade at Egloo Gate for special passes for student transport vehicles had created significant obstacles for those trying to reach Governor Girls’ High School Scouts Camp. The demonstration continued for nearly an hour and a half, with students calling for the immediate restoration of transport access without what they described as unnecessary restrictions.
The protest concluded after negotiations between the administration, City Brigade officials and student representatives, following which security officials reopened the gate for student movement. The issue comes in the context of heightened restrictions introduced after a militant attack on Cadet College Wana.
Strict barriers were placed at both Farhad Gate and Egloo Gate, sharply reducing public mobility and causing difficulties not only for students but also for citizens needing to access the NADRA Centre for essential documentation.
