DERA ISMAIL KHAN: Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faisal Karim Kundi criticized Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), stating that while some party leaders call for dialogue, the party’s founder is steering the country toward instability. He emphasized that political issues can be resolved through discussions, but not on the basis of preconditions, noting that the Prime Minister has also offered talks to PTI.
Addressing a press conference at his residence, Governor Kundi confirmed that Afghan nationals were found involved in attacks on the PTC Dera and FC headquarters. He clarified that the government’s decision regarding the repatriation of illegal Afghan residents is final, while legal entry for business or employment remains permissible.
Commenting on recent political developments, the governor said misinformation spread during the visits of KP and Sindh chief ministers to each other’s provinces, adding that the Sindh government coordinated security to prevent unrest.
Governor Kundi expressed concern over the deteriorating law and order situation in KP, praising the sacrifices of the KP Police, particularly Dera Ismail Khan Police, for maintaining peace. He also noted that while the Constitution allows for governor’s rule, there is currently no intention to impose it, emphasizing that provincial-federal issues can be resolved through dialogue.
Highlighting development projects, Governor Kundi announced federal and provincial approvals for the establishment of a Sindh Institute of Urology and Transplantation (SIUT) hospital in Dera Ismail Khan and a Danish School, with land allocation underway. He added that the Dera Ismail Khan International Airport project is nearing board approval for formal inauguration.
On utilities, he assured that gas load-shedding would not occur in the district and that efforts are ongoing with WAPDA to reduce electricity outages and PESCO losses.
Speaking on politics, Governor Kundi expressed confidence in the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) forming the next government under Bilawal Bhutto Zardari. PPP Divisional President Sardar Qaisar Khan Mian Khel highlighted party unity, noting that differences and misunderstandings are normal in politics and are being addressed through internal discussions.
The press conference was attended by several PPP leaders, including District Bar President Sardar Qaisar Khan Mian Khel, District President Malik Farhan Afzal Dhap, KP Bar Council member Sardar Hashmat Nawaz Sadozai, Malik Abid Awan, Sardar Adnan Khan Sadozai, Habibullah Midad Khel, and others.
