KARACHI: A two-day Grant Writing Workshop was recently organized by Getz Pharma, focusing on unlocking the art of effective grant writing for aspiring researchers and professionals in the field. The workshop, which attracted a diverse group of participants, was expertly facilitated by prominent figures in academia and research.
Dr. Asma Tabassum, the Director ORIC at Sohail University, played a key role in guiding attendees through the intricacies of grant writing. Her insights helped demystify the often complex process of securing research funding and highlighted strategies for crafting compelling grant proposals. She added that such events serve as an essential platform for doctors and healthcare providers to exchange ideas, update their knowledge, and remain at the forefront of medical advancements.
The workshop also featured contributions from two other distinguished experts in the field. Prof. Dr. Kashif Shafique, the Principal of the School of Public Health (SPH) and Director of ORIC at DOW University of Health Sciences, shared his extensive experience in research funding and proposal development. Additionally, Dr. Shamshad Zarina, the former Director of the Dr. Zafar H. Zaidi Center for Proteomics at the University of Karachi, provided valuable guidance on the scientific aspects of grant writing, particularly in relation to the life sciences. The successful execution of this workshop reflects the growing importance of fostering research capabilities and enhancing the skills of academics in navigating the competitive landscape of research funding. With support from esteemed facilitators like Dr. Tabassum, Prof. Dr. Shafique, and Dr. Zarina, the event equipped participants with the practical tools and knowledge needed to write successful grant proposals, a crucial skill for advancing research and academic careers.
