Court seeks response from prosecution

Scriptwriter Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar has filed an application for the return of his belongings in the ongoing honey trap and kidnapping for ransom case. The application was heard by Judge Arshad Javed of the Anti-Terrorism Court. In his application, Qamar stated that the police recovered Rs 240,000 and the registration book of his car from the accused. He claimed that the accused had withdrawn money from his bank account using his ATM card, requesting the return of both the money and the car’s registration book.
The court issued a notice to the prosecution regarding Qamar’s application and has requested a response by September 28. Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar, along with the main accused Amna Arooj, co-accused Hassan Shah, and Rafiq alias Feki, are currently in jail on judicial remand in connection with the honey trap and kidnapping for ransom case. On July 15, 2024, Qamar was allegedly abducted and robbed in Lahore. He reported the incident to the police on July 21, after being released following a ransom payment. According to Qamar, he was invited to Amna Arooj’s home under the pretense of discussing a drama project.
However, his lawyer claims that he was abducted by armed men. Conversely, Amna Arooj’s lawyer asserts that Qamar’s manager initially contacted her for professional reasons, but the interaction reportedly took a personal turn, with Qamar allegedly making demands. Amna’s lawyer further claims that Qamar insisted on another meeting, arriving intoxicated and pressuring her for a physical relationship while threatening to leak compromising photos if she refused. Hassan Shah, identified as the alleged mastermind, reportedly kidnapped both Amna and Qamar, although details of their ordeal remain unclear. Amna later accused the police of torture, alleging they forced her to falsely label the incident as a honey trap. The case continues to unfold, revealing significant developments.
