AQABA: Hundreds of Israelis have been left stranded at King Hussein International Airport after turning to neighbouring countries to leave Israel as flight disruptions intensified.
Travellers began using airports in nearby countries, particularly in Jordan, leading to overcrowding and tense conditions at Aqaba after sudden flight cancellations.
Many were forced to travel from Eilat to Aqaba, but crossing the border now took four to five hours due to heavy congestion. Large crowds gathered inside and outside the terminal, with long queues forming as passengers waited for onward travel.
Some travellers were attempting to reach destinations via Dubai and Abu Dhabi before continuing to Europe and other regions. Passengers said timely information was not being provided.
Meanwhile, flights from Ben Gurion Airport remained severely restricted, with repeated cancellations and limits allowing only around 50 passengers per flight.
