KARACHI: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Sindh, Javed Alam Odho, participated in a ceremony marking the upgrading and digitalization of various units under the Sindh Police Motor Transport (MT) Department. The event was held at the central office of the Motor Training Unit at Police Headquarters Garden, Karachi.
The IGP was received with a ceremonial guard of honor. The occasion was attended by DIGs of Headquarters, SPs of PHP, T&T, Training, South, Traffic Karachi, SSP City, AIG MT, Telecom, SP Headquarters Garden, and representatives from various vehicle manufacturing companies.

DIG T&T Zulfiqar Ali Mehr and AIG MT Syed Salman Hussain welcomed the guests, briefed them on the department’s performance, fleet numbers, and operational challenges. IGP Sindh toured different sections of the motor training unit, receiving detailed briefings on repaired and refurbished vehicles now ready for use.
DIG T&T highlighted that the upgraded and digitalized MT units play a central role in overall policing performance. The department not only maintains vehicles used in operations in remote areas but also provides technical support to other districts.
Expressing gratitude, IGP Javed Alam Odho thanked all vehicle manufacturers involved in the initiative and emphasized the importance of modern technology in transforming routine policing into smart policing. He stated that Sindh Police is moving from emergency operations toward regular policing, where technologically equipped vehicles are essential to provide prompt and efficient services to the public.
IG Sindh further noted that successful operations in remote areas have been achieved through smart vehicles and advanced technology, alongside the sacrifices of martyrs. He stressed that policing should increasingly rely on smart and modern vehicles rather than heavy conventional ones.
He urged vehicle manufacturers to support the police by providing technical training to staff and offering annual maintenance and overhauling services to keep the fleet operational.
The ceremony underscored Sindh Police’s commitment to modernizing its motor transport capabilities for efficient and responsive law enforcement.
