KARACHI: Inspector General of Police Sindh Ghulam Nabi Memon has congratulated the newly elected office-bearers and governing body members of the Karachi Press Club following the annual elections for 2026, in which the Democrats panel emerged successful.
In a statement issued by the Sindh Police public relations office, the IG extended his heartfelt congratulations to all newly elected representatives, saying their success was a clear reflection of the trust and confidence placed in them by the journalistic community.
Memon congratulated President Fazil Jameeli, Vice-President Irshad Khokhar, Secretary Aslam Khan, Joint Secretary Muhammad Farooq Sami and Treasurer Imran Ayub on their victory in the annual elections, and conveyed his best wishes for their tenure. The IG also congratulated Abdul Jabbar Nasir, Akhtar, Shameem, Faryal Arif, Javed Saba, Farid Alam and Javed Mehr on becoming members of the governing body.
Memon said the Democrats’ decisive win in the Karachi Press Club elections demonstrated the confidence of journalists in their leadership. He noted that the Karachi Press Club plays an important role in promoting the rule of law, public awareness and fact-based reporting in society.
He said professional cooperation between the police and the Karachi Press Club not only helps ensure accurate reporting of crime but also strengthens public trust in institutions. Expressing hope for the future, the IG said the newly elected leadership would play an effective role in safeguarding the professional rights of journalists, resolving issues faced in the field and promoting positive journalistic values.
