ISLAMABAD: An Islamabad court has taken a significant step by issuing an arrest order for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, linking him to a case concerning the recovery of illegal weapons and alcohol. This court directive mandates that Gandapur be apprehended and presented before the judiciary by October 26, signaling an escalating legal battle for the embattled politician.
The court has explicitly instructed the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Operations Islamabad to ensure that the arrest warrant is executed without delay. Furthermore, a notice has been dispatched to Gandapur’s guarantor, making them liable for the case’s proceedings, an unusual but noteworthy measure that underscores the court’s commitment to enforcing its orders.
During the recent hearing, it was disclosed that local law enforcement had previously failed to comply with a non-bailable arrest warrant issued against Gandapur. The court’s renewed insistence on strict adherence to this latest directive reflects its frustration with the lack of enforcement and highlights the importance of Gandapur’s presence in the ongoing legal proceedings. This development is emblematic of the increasing scrutiny that political figures in Pakistan are facing, particularly in light of allegations that challenge their integrity and conduct.
