KARACHI: ILMA University recently organized a thought-provoking panel discussion titled “HR Strategies for Success: Promoting Employee Well-being, Culture, and DEI,” attended by Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Mansoor uz Zafar Dawood, Registrar Syed Kashif Rafi, Dean, HoTD, senior faculty members, and a significant number of students. The event featured distinguished HR professionals, including Aadil Riaz, Director of HR at Pakistan Cables Limited, who moderated the session.
Other panelists included Raiya Sultan, Head of HR Projects at TCS; Jehanzeb Khan, Consultant and former Head of HR at Total and Byco; Faryal Shahid Khawaja, CEO of HR Wizards Consulting; Andleeb Dawood, Head of HR at Decibel; and Asila Khandwala, Head of HR at Bank Islami. During the discussion, the panel explored essential themes such as emotional inclusivity, underscoring its role in creating a safe and supportive work environment. The experts advocated for enhancing Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) initiatives to include considerations of age, community representation, and other marginalized groups.
Additionally, the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in HR management was a significant point of discussion, with panelists noting that AI can streamline processes and elevate employee engagement by providing valuable insights for informed decision-making. The panel also highlighted transparency in reward systems as a vital strategy to combat workplace favoritism, stressing the importance of merit-based recognition. Establishing clear criteria for promotions was deemed essential for building trust within organizations. Students actively participated in the discussion, posing thoughtful questions regarding inclusivity and contemporary HR challenges.
