DERA ISMAIL KHAN: The construction of the Ratta Kulachi-based Dera Ismail Khan Grid Station-II has remained incomplete for several years, with social and public circles blaming prolonged negligence by the federal government and elected representatives.
They have urged higher authorities to ensure the immediate supply of essential materials so the long-delayed project can finally become operational. The new grid station, planned to address chronic electricity shortages in the region, has remained non-functional due to a persistent shortage of required equipment.
Meanwhile, the existing 132kV Dera Ismail Khan Grid Station, which currently operates 35 feeders, has become severely overloaded, a situation expected to worsen during the upcoming summer months. Officials warned that without the timely completion of Grid Station-II, power disruptions, overloads, and system failures were likely to intensify.
