ISTANBUL: An Indian YouTuber known online as Malik Swish Buckler, whose real name is Malik SD Khan, has been arrested in Türkiye after making offensive remarks about Turkish women in a video that sparked widespread outrage.
According to Turkish media, the incident unfolded when Khan was caught on camera using deeply inappropriate language in Hindi to describe a Turkish woman. The video quickly went viral, drawing anger from citizens across the country. As public backlash grew, Khan was forced to issue an apology via his social media accounts, attempting to defuse the situation by expressing regret to the women of Türkiye.
Multiple videos from Khan’s YouTube channel have also surfaced in which he appears to mock Turkish women and berate a shopkeeper for not displaying the Indian flag. These clips have only added fuel to the controversy, raising serious concerns about his conduct during his time in the country.
Local authorities acted swiftly following the uproar, detaining Khan on charges related to public harassment and incitement. His arrest has been welcomed by many in Türkiye, where respect for cultural norms and gender dignity remains a sensitive and pressing issue.
