DERA ISMAIL KHAN: The office of the daily Insa News was formally inaugurated in Dera Ismail Khan at a ceremony attended by leading figures from the legal fraternity, political parties, journalism and civil society.
The chief guests included Sardar Qaisar Khan Miankhel, president of the Dera district bar and divisional president of the Pakistan People’s Party, senior legal expert Abdul Qayyum Qureshi, and Tahseen Alamdaar Advocate, deputy general secretary of MQM Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and legal adviser to Insa News. The event was also attended by a large number of journalists and representatives of various organizations from across the district.
Among those present were Abul Muazzam Turabi, Muhammad Irfan Mughal, president of the Dera Press Club Yasin Qureshi, general secretary Iqbal Bhatti, Sheikh Tauqeer Akram, Muhammad Rehan, Mustafa Kamal, Zubair Shaheen, Abu Shan, Abdul Majid Barki, president of APCA Dera Haji Zubair Baloch, chairman of Anjuman-e-Tajran Eastern Circular Road Amjad Karim, along with several other journalists, traders and social figures.
Sardar Qaisar Khan Miankhel, along with other guests, cut the ribbon to inaugurate the office. He offered special prayers for the success of Insa News and expressed hope that journalists would continue to highlight the pressing issues of Dera Ismail Khan and play an active role in their resolution. He said that positive and constructive criticism had always been welcomed.
Tahseen Alamdaar Advocate said journalists in Dera Ismail Khan would continue to raise regional issues with responsibility and commitment, assuring them of full legal support. Abdul Qayyum Qureshi Advocate praised the local journalistic community, saying it practiced a standard of positive and responsible journalism that was rarely seen elsewhere in the country.
Senior journalists, including Abul Muazzam Turabi, Irfan Mughal, Muhammad Rehan, Zubair Shaheen, Abdul Majid Barki, Sheikh Tauqeer and Mustafa Kamal, said achieving freedom of expression was difficult, but using it positively and responsibly was an even greater challenge. They noted that print media faced intense competition from television channels and social media, and could only survive by ensuring the publication of verified, well-researched and credible information.
At the end of the ceremony, Insa News chief editor Muhammad Hashim Agha thanked the guests and participants for their presence and support. The guests were also honoured with traditional regional turbans and garlands.
