ORENBURG: A devastating fire at an oil pipeline in Russia’s Orenburg region has resulted in the deaths of two individuals, according to a report by the TASS state news agency on Tuesday. The regional prosecutor’s office has launched an investigation to determine the cause of the blaze, although specific details about the incident remain unclear.
Unconfirmed reports about the fire began circulating on Russian Telegram channels on Monday, but the incident was officially verified with TASS’s announcement.
In a related development, a Ukrainian drone strike on June 28 had previously targeted a petrol depot, causing a fire, according to a statement from the governor of the Tambov region, Maxim Yegorov. The attack occurred at 4:35 am (0135 GMT) and was reported to have ignited a minor fire, which has since been extinguished with no casualties reported.
Russia’s defense ministry announced that it had intercepted 25 Ukrainian drones overnight, though it did not specify if any were linked to the Tambov region incident. In the western Bryansk region, governor Alexander Bogomov reported that a drone had been downed, with its debris partially damaging the roof of an administrative building.
