TEHRAN: Iranian security forces have arrested 500 people accused of sharing sensitive information with Israel, according to Iranian authorities. The arrests were announced by the country’s police chief amid heightened tensions between Iran and Israel.
Officials said some of the suspects allegedly provided information that helped identify sensitive targets for potential attacks. Authorities also claimed that several detainees recorded videos of protesting citizens and sent the footage to hostile countries.
Earlier, Iranian media had reported that dozens of individuals were detained in different parts of the country as part of security operations. According to Iran’s Tasnim News Agency, at least 20 people were arrested on charges of sending details about military and security facilities to Israel.
The arrests come as Iran tightens internal security measures during the ongoing confrontation with Israel, with authorities warning against espionage and cooperation with foreign intelligence services.
