TEHRAN: Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has held the United States responsible for attacks near civilian areas in Gulf countries, stating that American forces have begun moving from military bases into civilian neighborhoods and hotels. In an interview with an Arab television network, Araghchi claimed that this relocation by US forces has resulted in locations near populated areas becoming targets.
The Iranian foreign minister said that wherever American forces or their installations were present, they were targeted, acknowledging that some of the targeted locations may have been near civilian areas. He expressed concern that these attacks have caused loss and distress to the people and countries of the region.
Araghchi placed full responsibility for starting the war on February 28 on the United States, adding that the blame for attacks near civilian areas in Gulf states also lies with Washington. His remarks come amid escalating tensions following the US-Israeli initiation of hostilities that have since drawn in multiple regional actors and resulted in significant casualties across Iran and neighboring countries.
