TEHRAN: Iran has said the Strait of Hormuz will remain closed to the United States and Israel, as tensions in the region continue to escalate. The statement came from a senior military spokesperson amid ongoing conflict in West Asia.
Iranian Armed Forces spokesperson General Shekarchi said that the country’s strategy is to push US forces out of West Asia and warned that the key shipping route would not be accessible to Americans and “Zionists”.
Meanwhile, head of Iran’s parliamentary national security commission Ebrahim Azizi claimed that five US fighter jets and helicopters had been shot down. He described the situation as a “real black day” for the United States and said it was time for Washington to face reality, adding that it had no option but to leave the region.
The claims have not been independently verified, and there has been no immediate response from US officials. The developments are likely to further heighten concerns over regional stability and global energy supplies.
