TEHRAN: Iran has issued a stark warning to the United States, signalling that more “powerful and destructive” attacks could follow amid escalating tensions in the Middle East.
Ebrahim Zolfaqari, spokesperson for Iran’s Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters, stated that the regional conflict would persist until the US faced “humiliation and surrender.” His remarks came in response to recent claims by President Donald Trump, who asserted that Iran’s missile arsenal had been severely reduced and that the country possessed only a limited number of missiles.
Zolfaqari rejected these assertions, describing US evaluations of Iran’s military strength as incomplete. He highlighted that Iran retains extensive strategic capabilities, including ongoing missile production, long-range weapons, advanced drones, sophisticated air defence systems, and electronic warfare tools. He added that key military production sites remain secure and beyond the reach of US forces, while previous targets struck by Washington were not critical to Iran’s operational capacity.
The Iranian official warned that miscalculations by the United States could further escalate the conflict. He emphasised that Iran would continue retaliatory actions against both US and Israeli forces in the region.
Earlier, Trump had claimed that the US could push Iran “back to the Stone Age” within weeks, asserting that all military objectives could soon be achieved. Analysts say such exchanges underscore the rising risk of misjudgment in an already volatile Middle East, with potential implications for regional security and global energy markets.
