DERA ISMAIL KHAN:: Serious irregularities have surfaced in the payment of salaries to more than 300 recently recruited employees under the Medical Teaching Institution (MTI) Dera, raising concerns among low-paid staff working across key healthcare facilities in the district.
The affected employees include Class IV workers, ward attendants, stretcher bearers, helpers, watchmen, and security guards posted at Mufti Mehmood Hospital, the District Headquarters Hospital, the Women’s Hospital, and Gomal Medical College. Many of them rely on their monthly wages as their primary source of income.
According to sources, employees have reportedly received only 40 to 50 percent of their salaries over the past three months. The payment system has also been marred by inconsistencies, including cases where salaries of staff with similar names were transferred into a single bank account. In some instances, employees said they received higher payments than due, while others were underpaid.
The situation has been further complicated by discrepancies in attendance records. Employees who joined duties on 16 December 2025 said their attendance was officially recorded from 25 December, resulting in additional deductions from their salaries.
The affected workers have expressed serious concern over the financial strain caused by delayed and incomplete payments, especially amid rising inflation. They urged the government and relevant authorities to take immediate notice of the issue, ensure the release of withheld salaries, and rectify the administrative errors.
They warned that continued delays and irregularities could deepen hardship among already low-income workers and called for a transparent inquiry into the matter to hold those responsible accountable.
