ISLAMABAD: Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar received the United States Chargé d’Affaires, Natalie Baker, in Islamabad on Thursday, in what both sides described as a cordial and forward-looking meeting aimed at consolidating bilateral relations.
The discussions centered on the broad contours of cooperation between Pakistan and the United States, with particular emphasis on supporting collective efforts to maintain peace and security across the region and beyond. He welcomed the positive momentum in the relationship, noting that recent engagements had created new opportunities for dialogue and collaboration.
During the meeting, Dar emphasized that high-level interactions were essential to deepen understanding and to translate diplomatic exchanges into tangible outcomes, particularly in areas of mutual interest such as trade, counter-terrorism, and regional stability. Officials said the deputy prime minister highlighted Pakistan’s commitment to constructive engagement, stressing that sustained dialogue remained key to addressing shared challenges in a rapidly changing geopolitical landscape.
Baker, for her part, expressed appreciation for Pakistan’s proactive role in regional security initiatives and reiterated Washington’s interest in exploring avenues for partnership that could benefit both nations. Sources familiar with the meeting described the talks as substantive, with both sides agreeing on the importance of maintaining open lines of communication and enhancing coordination on strategic issues.
