TEL AVIV: In Gaza, the human toll of the conflict continues to mount, with Friday’s airstrike on the Nuseirat refugee camp claiming the lives of at least 10 Palestinians, including displaced families who had sought refuge at a school. Medics on the scene described the strike as one of many that night in central Gaza, where over 47 people, mostly women and children, were killed in a succession of overnight bombardments targeting Deir Al-Balah, Nuseirat, and Al-Zawayda.
These civilian casualties reflect the devastating impact of the conflict on Gaza’s densely populated areas, where thousands have been displaced, compounding the humanitarian crisis. In the northern part of Gaza, Israeli military operations reportedly aimed at Hamas forces also struck essential healthcare infrastructure. Kamal Adwan Hospital in Beit Lahiya suffered critical damage to its resources, severely hampering its capacity to provide urgent medical care amid a severe resource shortage. The Israeli military stated that it targeted the hospital based on claims that it was being used by Hamas as a military base.

The health ministry in Gaza echoed this call, urging the international community to intervene in protecting healthcare infrastructure and personnel from ongoing attacks. The conflict, which began on October 7 after a Hamas-led assault on Israel, has exacted a steep price in Gaza, where over 43,000 people have reportedly lost their lives, according to Palestinian authorities. Entire neighborhoods lie in ruins, and with each day, the death toll rises, disproportionately impacting civilians, including women and children.
