ANKARA: Turkey has voiced concern that Israel is encouraging the United States to launch military strikes against Iran, while reaffirming its opposition to any new conflict or regional instability.
Turkish Foreign Minister emphasized that peace and stability in Iran are crucial, noting that rising tensions could affect neighboring countries across the region. Commenting on recent demonstrations in Iran, the minister expressed regret over the loss of lives and called on all parties to exercise restraint and responsibility.
The minister reiterated Turkey’s strong opposition to foreign interference in Iran and said issues in the region should be resolved through dialogue, not military force. He called on both Washington and Tehran to return to the negotiating table and take practical steps to reduce tensions.
Turkey has engaged directly with US officials on the issue, including a recent discussion with Special Representative Steve Witkoff, and will continue diplomatic contacts to avert escalation.
