At the United Nations General Assembly, a joint resolution, introduced by Pakistan, Turkey, Qatar, and other nations, calls for Israel to withdraw its presence from Gaza and the occupied West Bank within a year. As the Israel-Palestine war nears its first anniversary next month, the brutality of Israeli forces continues unabated, with 41,000 Palestinians having lost their lives. Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people has only intensified, and now, advanced technologies such as pagers and walkie-talkies are being used to drop bombs on them. Israel is escalating the war beyond Palestine’s borders, with strikes reaching as far as Iran. Attacks on Syria and Lebanon have become routine.
Just yesterday, a series of explosions involving pager devices and walkie-talkies in Lebanon claimed the lives of 20 people, and injured 3,000 others, including Iranian Ambassador Mojtaba Amani. Hezbollah has held Israel responsible for these bombings, and available evidence supports this accusation. Yet, once again, the United Nations expressed mere “concern” and refrained from directly blaming Israel, further highlighting the UN’s apparent bias in the matter. This partiality was clearly reflected in a recent interview with UN Secretary-General António Guterres, where he stated that “nothing can justify the collective punishment imposed by Israel on the people of Gaza.” Even Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman has taken a firm stance, declaring that there will be no normalization of ties with Israel until a Palestinian state is established.
Despite international outcry, the United Nations and global powers remain unwilling to take concrete action against the atrocities inflicted upon the Palestinian people. Numerous resolutions have been passed in various forums, including the UN General Assembly, and protests against Israeli aggression have been held worldwide. Yet, Israel’s oppressive actions show no signs of abating, suggesting that Israel’s influence over the global community remains strong. It is evident that mere resolutions are insufficient. The situation now demands more than just words; global pressure must be applied to halt Israel’s violence. The Muslim world, in particular, must rise above its internal divisions and unite to create a formidable front against this oppression. Only through collective and concerted efforts can the international community hope to curb Israel’s unchecked power and bring justice to the Palestinian people.
