TEL AVIV: The Israeli government has denied reports that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was killed in an Iranian attack, calling the circulating claims false and unfounded. In a statement issued by the prime minister’s office, officials confirmed that Netanyahu is alive and dismissed the reports of his death as rumours.
Unverified reports had spread on social media suggesting that Netanyahu was killed following Iranian strikes. The rumours intensified after a video message allegedly released on March 12 showed Netanyahu warning Iran’s Supreme Leader, with viewers claiming the footage appeared to contain artificial intelligence manipulation, including a visual anomaly in his hand.
Speculation grew further after the Israeli prime minister did not appear at a security meeting or the subsequent media briefing, prompting a wave of online claims and AI-generated images and videos suggesting he had been killed.
However, the statement from Netanyahu’s office rejected all such claims and clarified that the reports were false. Meanwhile, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said it would continue pursuing the Israeli prime minister, declaring that if he is alive, efforts to target him would continue.
