LANDIKOTAL: On Friday, a significant anti-smuggling operation was executed by the district administration under directives from the provincial government at the Torkham Border. The operation, spearheaded by Assistant Commissioner Landikotal Adnan Mumtaz and a specialized team from the Frontier Corps (North), targeted a warehouse in Bacha Mena, located near the Torkham Border.
Deputy Commissioner Khyber Captain (retd) Sanauallah Khan confirmed that the raid led to the seizure of millions of rupees worth of contraband items. Authorities confiscated over 12,000 packs of illicit foreign cigarettes, 272 packs of banned Indian medicines, and paan, among other prohibited goods. The operation took place late at night and was part of ongoing efforts to combat smuggling activities in the region.
According to Deputy Commissioner Khan, these banned items were destined for distribution to Peshawar and other districts. The confiscated goods have been taken into government custody, and legal proceedings are underway. The operation underscores the district administration’s commitment to curbing illegal smuggling and maintaining border security.
In addition to this major bust, the district administration continues to conduct regular operations at joint checkpoints and along the Torkham Border. These efforts also target the smuggling of non-banned items such as sugar and urea, aiming to address a broad spectrum of smuggling activities affecting the region. A team led by Assistant Commissioner Landi Kotal, Adnan Mumtaz, along with Teshildar Torkham Dawood Afridi, Teshildar Landi Kotal Taimur Afridi, and FC (North) personnel, raided a warehouse in Bacha Mena.
