KARACHI: Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan Ameer, Engineer Hafiz Naeemur Rahman, urged the youth to harness the transformative potential of social media, not only to expose injustice but also to foster positive change in society. Speaking at the Connect Karachi social media meetup, organized by the JI Women Wing at Faran Club, Rahman highlighted the party’s ongoing mission toward a peaceful Islamic revolution that embraces all sections of society.
He called on young activists and social reformers to use every available platform to effectively communicate their message, stressing that social media should serve as a unifying force against what he described as the apartheid maintained by the entrenched feudal ruling class. Rahman pointed to the enduring legacy of colonial divide-and-rule tactics, lamenting that these strategies continue to sow discord in Pakistan today.
The Jamaat-e-Islami leader also drew attention to the pressing need for youth empowerment and the protection of women’s rights, particularly those of working women. He highlighted the plight of hundreds of thousands of women who contribute to the workforce, including many engaged in home-based work, whose rights remain largely unprotected in the country.
The event also featured voices from JI’s digital and women’s wings, including Digital Media Director Salman Sheikh, Asad Aijaz, Samina Saeed, and Javedan Fahim. They reinforced calls for responsible digital activism, urging young people to take a proactive role in driving social reform through constructive engagement online. The gathering reflected a shared commitment within the party to leverage digital tools for fostering greater inclusion and societal progress.
