Kaira’s visit to the Governor House serves as a testament to the PPP’s efforts to strengthen its foothold in the region, aligning with the party’s broader national objectives

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) senior leader Qamar Zaman Kaira, on Saturday, reaffirmed his party’s commitment to playing an “active role” in Punjab and at the national level, signaling the PPP’s ongoing efforts to maintain a strong political presence across the country.
Kaira made these remarks during a meeting with Punjab Governor Saleem Haider in Lahore. The discussions between the two leaders centered on various matters of mutual interest, with the Punjab governor emphasizing the importance of inclusivity in the political landscape. “The doors of the Governor House are open for all political parties,” Governor Haider stated, underscoring the need for dialogue and cooperation among different political factions. The meeting highlighted the PPP’s strategic engagement in Punjab, a province where the party has traditionally faced challenges but continues to assert its influence.
Kaira’s visit to the Governor House serves as a testament to the PPP’s efforts to strengthen its foothold in the region, aligning with the party’s broader national objectives. In a separate statement on Friday, Kaira expressed his disappointment over what he termed as “insufficient relief” provided to the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) during the last decade under the governance of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI). He criticized the PTI for failing to address the pressing needs of the region, particularly in the face of rising security threats and economic hardships.
Kaira also condemned the recent terrorist attacks that have claimed innocent lives, pointing to the broader challenges posed by terrorism in Pakistan. He expressed concern over the “non-serious” statements made by some politicians in response to these threats, highlighting the need for a unified and serious approach to combating terrorism. The PPP leader did not shy away from addressing the issue of rampant inflation, which he identified as one of the most significant challenges facing the country.
Kaira noted that all political parties are deeply concerned about the soaring inflation and its impact on the lives of ordinary citizens. He acknowledged the government’s limited resources and the difficulties it faces in providing relief to the masses, particularly in the context of the stringent conditions imposed by the International Monetary Fund (IMF). Kaira also expressed his solidarity with the employees of utility stores, voicing his opposition to the government’s decision to shut down these vital outlets.
