KARACHI: The Karachi commissioner, Syed Hassan Naqvi, formed three monitoring teams to curb profiteering and ensure strict implementation of official prices, saying the move would make the efforts of magistrates more transparent and effective.

The teams, working under the supervision of commissionerate officers, were tasked with supporting price magistrates in checking rates and improving enforcement across the city. All districts were divided into three regions for the purpose.

Additional Commissioner-I Ghulam Mehdi Shah was assigned the western region, Additional Commissioner-II Asadullah Khoso the southern region, and Assistant Commissioner (Revenue) Sajjad Abro the eastern region.

The western region comprises the West and Central district administrations, the southern region includes South, Korangi and Keamari, while the eastern region covers East and Malir.

The monitoring teams were directed to visit complaint centres, model bazaars and other shopping areas and to strengthen the administration’s efforts to provide relief to citizens.
