KARACHI: The Anti-Corruption Establishment has filed a case in court over alleged manipulation of the 2022 pre-medical examination results of the Karachi Intermediate Board, submitting a challan against seven accused officials.
Those named include former board chairman Dr Saeeduddin, former controller Naseem Ahmed Memon, deputy controller Aslam Chauhan, assistant controller Tanveer Zaidi and official Muhammad Athar. Two others have been dropped from the case due to insufficient evidence.
According to the challan, an inquiry committee set up on the orders of the Sindh chief minister confirmed irregularities in the results. The report revealed unauthorized changes in students’ marks, with evidence of cuts and additions found in award lists. Signatures of key officials were also missing from tabulation registers. The report states that the board’s IT manager, Shaheer Waqar, is absconding, while accused Muhammad Athar faces charges of negligence and failure to secure record. It added that officers Abdul Haris Farooqi and Zahiruddin Bhutto were cleared due to lack of proof.
