KARACHI: Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Karachi has announced an ambitious public outreach campaign scheduled to launch in January 2026, aiming to enroll one million new members across the city. The announcement was made during the party’s annual one-day “Ijtema-e-Arkaan” (Members’ Convention) held at Idara Noor-e-Haq, where JI Karachi Ameer Monem Zafar outlined plans for extensive community engagement.
Monem Zafar said the campaign would involve the establishment of thousands of public and neighbourhood-level committees tasked with addressing local issues, providing relief to citizens, and engaging youth in social reform initiatives. “These committees will actively address local concerns, provide support to citizens, promote character-building, and work to curb drug abuse among youth,” he stated. He called on all members and office-bearers to dedicate their energies to strengthening outreach, training, and organisational development.
The gathering also featured remarks from renowned scholar and Tarjuman-ul-Quran Editor Saleem Mansoor Khalid, alongside reports from party officials detailing activities in civic affairs, public aid, Alkhidmat Karachi initiatives, the election cell, and Quranic teachings. The convention highlighted JI’s continued focus on combining religious principles with social activism and civic responsibility.
Monem Zafar emphasised that Jamaat-e-Islami views itself as a movement committed to establishing a complete system of Deen, guiding social, economic, judicial, and governmental affairs. He asserted that the party has historically been at the forefront of addressing public grievances and resisting oppression, portraying the new outreach campaign as an extension of its longstanding mission to strengthen community engagement and public welfare.
Party sources said the campaign would seek to deepen JI’s presence in urban and suburban areas, with committees expected to play a pivotal role in fostering social cohesion, promoting education, and tackling pressing issues such as poverty, drug abuse, and youth disenfranchisement. The initiative reflects the party’s ongoing strategy to mobilise grassroots support while reinforcing its organisational infrastructure across Karachi.
