KARACHI: Chairman of the Pakistan Red Crescent Society Sindh, Rehan Hashmi, attended the closing ceremony of the Kashmir Solidarity All Karachi Mixed Martial Arts Championship at the Sindh Sports Complex, where he served as the chief guest, bringing an end to a sporting event that combined competitive athletics with a broader message of solidarity.
The championship had been organized under the supervision of Asian MMA and jujitsu officials, including Tariq Ali, and featured participation from national-level athletes across all categories. Fighters from both men’s and women’s divisions took part, highlighting the expanding reach of mixed martial arts in Pakistan and its growing acceptance as a structured and regulated sport.
Over the course of the competition, athletes displayed a high level of skill, discipline and physical endurance, drawing interest from spectators and members of the sporting community. Senior officials of the Sindh Olympic Association were also present at the ceremony, including its secretary, Rajput, alongside other dignitaries and sports administrators.
Their presence underscored official support for combat sports and reflected a wider effort to integrate mixed martial arts into the mainstream sporting framework of the province. Organizers said the involvement of recognized officials had helped ensure transparency, safety and adherence to international standards throughout the event.
Addressing the gathering, Hashmi praised the organizers and participants for successfully holding a championship that went beyond competition alone. He said sport had the capacity to unite people, promote positive values and provide young men and women with constructive outlets for their energy and ambition.
