KARACHI: Additional Inspector General Karachi Aazad Khan addressed officers and personnel at the Arts Council on 4 January 2026, stressing crime control, institutional reform, the use of technology and public service as core priorities of the force.

Speaking to police officers and personnel, the Karachi police chief said Sindh Police was their collective identity and that its fundamental mission was to serve both the public and the department itself. He said the history of Sindh Police was marked by the timeless sacrifices of its martyrs, to whom he paid tribute.

He described improvements in police stations as his top priority, saying the police must adopt modern technology and meet public expectations. He emphasised the need to improve the image of the police, to present the force as a source of help for citizens and to promote a friendly environment in police stations so that public access to the police could be made easier.

Directing indiscriminate action against street crime, organised crime, narcotics and other serious offences, he said reform of the investigation system was unavoidable. He said merit-based investigations, procedures aligned with modern requirements and the effective use of technology were essential for the future.

The police chief also stressed that the welfare of police personnel must be prioritised at every level.

Announcing a zero-tolerance policy regarding any mix-up with criminals, he said the performance and accountability of every officer and official would remain a top priority. He also announced the formation of a management committee to improve facilities at police lines, with the aim of raising the living standards of police personnel.

He highlighted the need to bridge communication gaps between officers and rank-and-file personnel, to develop clear standard operating procedures for professional work and to improve public perception of the police.

Concluding his address, the Karachi police chief instructed all officers and personnel to perform their duties with hard work, honesty and professional commitment so that public trust could be restored and strengthened.
