Consulate hosts Hari Sukan Negara 2025 with cultural activities promoting unity and friendship

    By Zahid Karani

KARACHI: The Consulate General of Malaysia in Karachi celebrated Hari Sukan Negara 2025 (HSN 2025) or National Sports Day with a vibrant community event at Amer Khusro Park, Old Clifton. The gathering, held under the theme “Unity Through Sports and Culture,” brought together 53 Malaysians, including students and families living in the city, for a day of sports, culture, and camaraderie.

A highlight of the celebration was the “Sarong Walk,” a uniquely Malaysian activity that celebrates the country’s colorful cultural heritage. Participants, dressed in traditional sarongs, walked together in a display of friendship and unity, reflecting Malaysia’s diversity and the sense of togetherness that the national day embodies. Now an annual tradition of the Consulate, the activity mirrors Malaysia’s broader nationwide celebrations and showcases the country’s shared heritage abroad.

In his address, the Consul General of Malaysia in Karachi highlighted the importance of the event in reinforcing national pride and strengthening connections among Malaysians residing in Pakistan. He emphasized that community-driven initiatives such as HSN 2025 are central to fostering unity, promoting sportsmanship, and celebrating cultural harmony within the diaspora.

The Consulate also reaffirmed its commitment to organizing meaningful programs that promote Malaysian culture, enhance people-to-people links, and uphold the spirit of Malaysia MADANI among the Malaysian community in Pakistan. Such initiatives are part of broader efforts to maintain strong cultural ties and nurture a sense of belonging for Malaysians abroad.

The Hari Sukan Negara celebration in Karachi not only offered a joyful day of sporting activities and cultural expression but also underscored the role of community engagement in bridging connections, celebrating heritage, and promoting unity through shared experiences.
