KARACHI: The ‘Jashan-e-Azadi Mushaira,’ held on 19 August 2024 at the Jinnah Auditorium of the Karachi Bar Association, emerged as a vibrant celebration of poetry and patriotism, bringing together an esteemed gathering of poets, lawyers, and literature enthusiasts to commemorate Pakistan’s independence. Organized by Bazm-e-Shoraa-e-Bar Karachi in collaboration with Pak-British Arts International (Sindh Chapter), the event exemplified the intersection of legal and literary communities in promoting national pride through the power of verse.
Presided over by the distinguished poet Firoz Natiq Khusro, the Mushaira saw the renowned lawyer and author Saalim Salam Ansari serving as the chief guest, adding to the event’s gravitas. Notable guests of honor included the esteemed poetess Rehana Roohi and Dr. Qamar Rizvi, who both played pivotal roles in the evening’s proceedings. Shoukat Kamal Cheema, Chairman of Bazm-e-Shoraa-e-Bar Karachi, coordinated the event, ensuring its smooth execution and success.

The evening commenced with a soulful rendition of Pakistan’s national anthem, infusing the auditorium with a sense of reverence and national pride. This was followed by a cake-cutting ceremony to mark the foundation day anniversary of Pak-British Arts International (Sindh Chapter), further adding to the festive atmosphere. In his opening address, Shoukat Kamal Cheema highlighted the significant role played by Bazm-e-Shoraa-e-Bar Karachi in fostering a love for literature within the legal community. Poetess Naheed Azmi, President of Pak-British Arts International (Sindh Chapter), took to the stage to introduce her forum and emphasize its contributions to society.
